A glyph is a signal of a number.
In learning to read and write, we acquire forms that satisfy the rules of a writing system. Yet we never learn the rules themselves. Considering that writing is one of the most fundamental technologies ever developed by humans, it is remarkable, even unsettling, that we have recorded much of our knowledge using a code whose underlying rules remain largely unknown to us. The objective of this work is to reveal the implicit structure underlying the Roman script.
The working hypothesis: A glyph is a signal of a number as a topological structure. The structure is composed of one-cells and two-cells.
